the riff came to tony's head in a minute, practising before a session, and they wrote the song just like that
and it rules

Spontaneity can bring success a lot of the time.

However only these guys could be spontaneous and become so successful.

Yeah, not surprised the riff came to his head in a minute if he was listening to "Communication Breakdown." You guys know he admits to ripping it off, right.

Doesn't the riff sound like a section from 'Dazed and Confused'?

Interesting story, didn't know about Paranoid and Communication Breakdown. However, Iommi probably just ripped off indirectly some poor, old bluesman rather than Led Zeppelin.

I've read yje same story about Lad Zeppelin. They realized they were in need of another song and Iommi just composed the first thing he could think of, which was a Led Zeppelin rip off.

It cant be that much of a rip off if most of us didnt even notice until now. And in any case, paranoid >>>> communication breakdown [2]

I enjoy Communication Breakdown just a bit more even though I prefer Iommi's solo than that of Page.

I don't know, mostly because of song structure, I think I like Communication Breakdown a bit more, too.

@Manosg indirectly yes, but I've seen an interview about Paranoid where Tony clearly states he ripped it from Zep.

Never heard about the connection you're talking about guys. The only connection of this album with Led Zepp that I know of is Rat Salad and Moby Dick. I remember reading somewhere that they wanted to do this instrumental as a tribute to Led Zepp and John Bonham.

If its true then at least its good to see a rip off involving Led Zeppelin go the other way for once ;)

Yeah. No band (especially back then) was completely above taking a few bits from their influences here and there. The unholy trinity of early metal were each culprits on multiple occasions, though if I had to say Zep was the worst of the three.
