Avoided Grimes till this point becasue she always came off to me as disgustingly pretentious and hipsterish both music-wise and personality. But I actually read through this thread and decided to check this one out and see what's all the fuss about.



I can safely say I haven't missed out anything revolutionary. There are a couple of catchy songs (Flesh without Blood, Venus Fly) and passages, the production is decent but most of this stuff is vapid pre-teen bubblegum pop with a fuckload of electronica and synths stuffed into it, to make it seem more edgier and hip. It's pretty boring for the most part, but when it gets bad, it's aggressively and painfully bad (Scream and California are terrible). The lowpoint for me is Grimes's voice, which is burried in the mix for the most part, but my God once you zero on it especially when she makes those high notes its pure cringe.



As others said before this stuff is basically Selena Gomez for hipster Tumblr teens that gets overhyped beyond belief.

This site is specifically made for over-analyzing. In fact I wish people would over-analyze more instead of just being 'album sucks lol. this song sucks and this song sucks and this song's ok but every song after it sucks even worse' most of the time

The difference of opinions on this makes for some hilarious discussion.
