Seems like this'll be the first album to cross the five thousand votes, though i'm guessing there was a score wipe at one point.

This is RtL part 2, so its not that bad. Overrated, yes, but never bad.

except The Thing That Should Not Be is a terrible song.

I really wouldn't say a genre defining album is overrated.

MoP isnt a genre defining album. It follows the same formula of RtL with better production and was released at the right time in the right place.
Some thrash defining albums:
Reign in blood.
Energetic Dissasembly.
Ride the Lightning.
Peace Sells.
Persecution Mania/Agent Orange.
To Mega Therion.
Pleasure to Kill.
Those were some of the albums that were somehow copied to death in thrash heyday, in some way or another.

I prefer Ride the Lightning and I know there is a large majority of people who do, but there is no way in hell this is not genre defining. This, Reign in Blood and Rust in Peace will always be hailed until the end of time as every 13 year old kid learns about them.
