Never fell that hard for Blue Lines, but Protection is so sublime. Love how it keeps a lot of the sleaze but reframes it in a more vulnerable way

Hmm, interesting! I think they're quite similar in sound actually. Do you know what it is about Blue Lines that makes you like it less than Protection?
This ''Protection is so sublime'' so much < 3

Protection has their weakest songs, Spying Glass and Light My Fire
|
| |
Light My Fire is a bonus track and Spying Glass isn't bad. The t/t, Better Things and Eurochild are all top of the pack and the two instrumentals are better than the two (well...one) here

Nah Exchange is better than the first instrumental on Protection
|
| |
Hmm maybe. I find it kinda hard to consider Exchange as its own song at this point; it feels like part of the experience of Mezz as a whole

Like Fitter, Happier.
Agreed about Spying Glass though, don't really like it. But this has Man Next Door which I also don't like at all.

"by the time the album’s title track comes on, it's nearly impossible to remember how "Black Milk" was any different from "Dissolved Girl"."

Dissolved Girl is so perfect in every way, their best song

Barely cracks the top 5 here for me but it's still so damn good

the bass line is incredible, the voice is so sexy, the textures are magnificent... those intermittent guitar notes that add that ominous vibe, then the drum break after the guitar section. its all so perfect it makes me geek

To this day I contend that Inertia Creeps starts like a Lonely Island song.
