Does Red House Painters count as a real deal sadboi?

"sab boy" is more descriptive than prescriptive to be honest

Anathema are amazing. There's a difference between crafting a sorrowful atmosphere and piecing together a few generic riffs with lyrics about being sad you no longer go on drives with your friends anymore

Red House Painters are alright. I dig some songs, but they are more of a saddad kinda thing

Also, I did specify that I was referring to sadboi American shite of the past decade. Not sadboi stuff in general.

Ok I'm bailing out of this I'm sleepy and this is worryingly convincing, Daisy is a keeper but I might have to touch base with this tomorrow. Remind me next to use my favourite bands as counter-examples again...

Good night, sleep tight!

Only outstanding quibble is still the issue of what differentiates an protagonist sadboi from a stop writing music sadboi but I'm losing my thread here

You too (go to sleep ffs!!!)

Pika gets it. I mean he really does get it like the rest of us who’ve actually got a ballbag. Thank Christ.

I don’t see the point in arguing against the legitimacy of this, I mean perhaps you think it wallows in self-pity too much for your liking, but is it contrived or manufactured in an emotional sense? Can’t see that myself. It is genuine as far as I can tell, whether you connect with it is a different matter entirely.
Personally I think this is just irredeemably dull and any attempt at discrediting it on any other level seems futile... it would display biases I couldn’t justify.

Being forced to swallow shit and voicing a distaste is not futile.

Zakalwe the Musical: Forced to Swallow Shit Since February 2013 :[
Wow that discussion was a sleepy haze last night. Going to listen to this end to end in a cafe and see where it stands now

Halfway through and this is heading towards 3.5 territory (especially since side A>side B)

Lowering the rating calls for some trite lyrical concoction a la this pile of shite.
‘The guillotine fell
Oh well oh well. Hey!!
Take it back, take me back, I wanna be so high.
Raise that gulliotine blade the gullible will save me.
Are you 15? Fancy a shag?’

Cheers zak, you know how to inspire me
Don't think I'll go any lower though - this is above average instrumentally and it's got its moments of impressive conviction. On the other hand, the lyrics are generally weaker than I remembered and I can't really justify defending Millstone, Sowing Season, Luca or that godawful rhythm couplet bridge in Degausser from the Pika/Zak school any longer. Plus Limousine sounds like an expanded version of Black Parade b-reel

I can take that tbh.
It’s a giant stride in the right direction.
