Well, I mean that's one of the problems but the biggest problem is that they're unbelievably boring - if you play those albums in public you will audibly hear everyone around you yawning

I genuinely think Heritage could have sounded on par with Watershed or Deliverence if it weren't mixed like ass, but the rest I won't make that defense for. Yeah still aren't as good as the gold opeth years

I remember I dated a girl back when Heritage first came out. Heritage was the only album she liked by them so it was the only one we would listen to all of the time. Like ALL the time.



That's not why the relationship ended, but the endless boredom and holding it in pretending to like it, because she was so excited that I also liked Opeth, is why I only sleep 2 hours a night and the rest of the time is spent staring at the ceiling with waking nightmares of boring, straight forward rip off prog rock Opeth.

yeah GR and Watershed both have these crystaline modern sounds that sound huge. i feel like the most recent album was a step back in that direction, now if only their next record could have some more metal to it we'd be good.

I want more songs that are like sorceress that have that heavy arse intro tbh. If mikael doesnt want to growl anymore thats fine. That title track was a good mix of the rock+metal
