Jac undoubtly will always pick Ulcerate, but new dso is very good. They're both different beasts but very pleasant on the ears

"they're both 2 of the best from this year. "

Agreed

These days I think I prefer Deathspell, on the whole I prefer their work more, even though I'd personally take Destroyers over anything they've done
but it's a beautiful world and I don't have to do that

Its also an ugly world, i think thats why bands like Ulcerate and DSO exist.

Def prefer these guys overall.
|
| |
Then why do they make beautiful music

I would never describe Ulcerate or DSO's material as beautiful.
|
| |
To me, there is beauty to be found in the complexity and sheer grandiosity of their respective sounds. Yes, it's not outwardly 'pretty' in the most operable definition of the word, but in my opinion their albums have so much depth and ingenuity that it creates its own sort of attractive quality.
