I guess what I mean Gwyn is that it's not really noise but rather just a lot of distortion. The word noise (which almost always appears in discussions of this album) was kind of misleading.



The word "noise" implies harshness or a lack of melody but these are extremely pretty/pleasant songs to my ears.

like I Only Said for example is not overtly noisy but when that lil synth/guitar refrain keeps repeating towards the end and all of the elements come together into a wall of sound it becomes overwhelming...u just kinda have to be really in the zone and attentive



it's not something u can just put on in the background and be like wow this is really noisy...it sounds kinda weak when played in that scenario, you really only catch the melodies

Listened to this 4 times in a row today to try to get some of that immersion aspect, I'm definitely feeling it more, but I still feel that while from a sound perspective this is astounding (lots of cool gee-tar soundz and pretty dreamy melodies that blend together in such a way that they create a really interesting and engaging atmosphere) it's missing something in the songwriting department that would make me want to go back to it more frequently. I could forgive the songwriting a bit more if this were supposed to be a soundscape record but at heart it's still a pop/rock album and therefore we need songs too.
