What I meant by that comment is more that it's one of their least understated and most overtly hooky, so think you might have ever so slightly missed the point
Choirs is indeed (maybe) the best album ever, but if Radiohead are your go-to to be blown away, you're not doing your argument any favours
|
| |
That's only an example. Imagine you and I were in the same high school, you asked me what is my favorite song from the national, I said Terrible Love, then you start laughing and yelling in the hallway "Hey this guy's favorite song from the national is Terrible Love! what a basic bitch!", now who do you think will be more embarrassed by spouting such nonsense?
|
| |
Sure, but putting having it as a favourite and saying it's their only song of value on a plane is one hell of a false equivalence
|
| |
If you don't like the National, that's obviously fair enough, but suggesting that one of their most immediate and colourful songs is their only worthwhile effort suggests you've completely missed the point of their craft
|
| |
Maybe I missed the point by not reading the liner notes, didn't watch the band interviews or didn't read and discern the lyrics while listening to the album. But why shouldn't I? you could just have said that I just "don't get it" and it would have been over by that point.

By the way there's nothing wrong with liking this album due to nostalgia, it isn't like I CHOSE to like it for that reason. It just is the reality. The record is inseparable from those times in my life. I heard other albums at that time which weren't very good and I don't have this sense of nostalgia with them.
|
| |
I mean, I for one have never found any of those things remotely essential to getting into the National but the point is more that your original comment was so far off the mark that "you don't get it" would have been a moot point and inadequate response :]

You act like everyone shares the same set of values its kinda hilarious and cute.

I'm glad that not being a mouth breather is now considered cute
