Wish I would've got to chill with Zar after the show, but my dad was trying to get the fuck outta there lmao. He's in his 60s, not surprising lol.

Oh dude we were down in the pit to the right! We must’ve just missed you because we saw all that too. We were originally gonna leave after their Absolute Elsewhere set but my girlfriend was actually not hating it so we stayed for the last few songs too.
Their stage production was cool as hell, idk I wasn’t expecting how elaborate some of the lights were and the two totems made it look like I was playing fucking Doom lmao, very cool.
…she fucking hated Krallice tho, “I just don’t get it” lmao bless her heart. We’re gonna be down there again tonight for Anthony Green so it was kind of a “one for me one for you” kinda deal.

Yes I did lol. He loved the music. He's still getting used to dm vocals, but he said he'd go to another dm show with me so he did enjoy himself.

I saw this show last night. They're probably my favorite band right now and I've heard they're good live, but I was not prepared for that.
Krallice had a really unfortunate start to their set, some technical issues and Mick broke a string halfway through the first song. Everyone could tell this band was legit but it was idk like we all just felt so sorry for the awful start lol. STL fans are typically respectful, so no booing or anything, but tempered reactions. Kinda like when Imperial Triumphant came to town most recently, though, they began to win the crowd over with the third song and by the end they had us, big cheers when they finished.
BI though...
Legitimately one of the finest displays of musicianship I've ever seen live, which is saying something considering who played right before them. Lighting and presentation was perfect. A lot of times, even with great live bands, one or two guys are the captivating ones that you can't take your eyes off of. All four guys here are legitimately mesmerizing. Morris was the most surprising, as that guy always looks so fuckin' stoned that I can't fathom ever being able to do anything but sit there and bake lol. I somehow was not aware of the EP from 2023 from which the closer came, but that shit had people eating out of the palm of their hands. If it's not the show of the year then I'm really in for a treat in the next few months.

Like holy fuck I've been to hundreds of shows over the last 25 years but that was 10/10. Flawless execution.
Love to see a band operating at their absolute peak.

And hawks was absolutely spot on a couple pages back on his point of metal shows having fewer bands but longer sets. Krallice had to have played for about an hour and BI even longer. I’d much rather see a couple of bands play longer sets than like 4 bands playing a few songs each.
I’d never heard the demo song before but it sounded cool, I was never totally blown away by everything else I’d heard but god fucking damn they crushed live. Easily the best show I’ve been to all year. I still got Deafheaven, Deftones, Ghost, and then System of a Down + Avenged Sevenfold, among a bunch of other club shows I’m sure I’m forgetting, but this is for sure the one to beat.
Forgot there’s more than a few STL homies on this site, we feasted last night.

> metal shows having fewer bands but longer sets
I'm really glad bands are starting to do that too. Two bands playing an hour+ on average, with maybe a three hour commitment to the show, is so much better than four bands and having to be out there for five hours or whatever.

100%. I don't wanna go to a show and see a band play for 20 minutes lol.
