I meant it was strange if someone couldn't decide between the Paul-era Maiden and Dickinson-era Maiden, since it's only two great/classic albums against 2+ undisputed classics and another whole slew of great albums. I didn't know people were comparing eras of Maiden and Sabbath together, that seems strange and pointless but yeah my mistake for misunderstanding.

Iron Maiden and Killers are about on par with Heaven & Hell and Mob Rules, but Sabbath has more albums with Dio than just those two while that's it for Maiden, plus they invented the genre so Sabbath wins.

| |
Dio era Sabbath didn't invent anything though so that's kind of irrelevant to that particular comparison.

I don't see how that would change anything, it's still the same band just with a different singer
|

But you were talking about albums from an era that had nothing to do with what you're citing as a deciding factor in your comparison.

It's still the same band but whatever I still prefer H&H and Mob Rules, but it's certainly close
|
| |
It's like saying you prefer 80's King Crimson over say 80's Rush because In the Court of the Crimson King was so influential which obviously makes no sense.
But yeah it doesn't really matter, as you said yourself, it's a strange comparison.

lol that inconsistent logic gets around though. So we pretty much agree Sabbath invented metal at least more than anyone else, so 13 comes out and sounds like typical Sabbath...no new innovations in 40+ years...but everyone loves it including myself. Don't originators of a style get less flak for repeating over and over...almost like they have license to do that and still be awesome. H&H didn't do anything Sabbath or Rainbow hadn't previously done, but it's metal and Sabbath invented metal so heck yeah it's better than everything else except other Sabbath!!!! hehe amiright
|
| |
lol not really.
Dio era Sabbath didn't even repeat the sound of the Sabbath that invented metal. Dio era was NWOBHM so saying H&H and Mob Rules are better than Maiden's first 2 albums (also NWOBHM) because Sabbath's older albums invented metal obviously makes no sense whatsoever.

Tbh Dio-era Sabbath is easier to compare to Maiden than it is to compare with Ozzy-era Sabbath

Not necessarily, because the guitar work during the Dio-era is still closer to Ozzy-era than it is to Maiden. I can still tell its Tony playing even though his style was different, he has a distinct tone thats unmistakable.

"Dio-era is still closer to Ozzy-era"
Indeed. Mark II Sabbath has very few similarities with Maiden.

"Best riff on here is Electric Funeral"
Maybe, but Iron Man's riff is far more significant.
