the only part of "not like us" the nfl is letting him do is the hook and the outro
aint no way they he does the verses especially almost an entire year removed from the beef

He'll probably get to the "Tryna strike a chord and its prolly..." part and then scream MUSTARDDDD and go right into TV Off

Also heart pt 6 is proof that he is still more than capable of makingconscious GKMC/tpab-esque hip hop

yeah i really like dodger blue as well. the songs with poppier vocals feel so much more organic than they did on his last two albums. luther is the best version of the sound he's been going for with tracks like Loyalty and Purple Hearts

I'm glad Kendrick and Freddie are doing the R&B samples justice. Too many bad ones in recent memory

Gnx is such a fun album, Kendrick really hasn't had such a upbeat attitude on an album since like section 80 it feels like.

Got a real “here’s a selection of loosies for that ass” feel, wouldn’t be surprised to see another project drop in 2025

Luther is definitely my favorite song from the new one. Pure dopamine. The rest are kind of mixed bag with the flows and production for me, but there are definitely some standouts and it's growing. Nowhere close to his peaks though.

Luther is good, as far as his pop adjacent tracks go, but it’s admittedly not what I’m looking for out of him. Far from a skip tho, SZA is great on it

It's just an excellent sounding song, pop or not. Idk, his taste in beats when it comes to most of his straight forward rap songs is getting worse imo. Like idk why people think wacced out murals is so good. The beat has an awkward groove and is snareless for too long. Bit of a cheesy melody and bassline and it comes off kinda stock and dated. Squabble Up and Hey Now are kinda standard west coast grooves/bounces but not bad. The first half of the album could have used a big, grandiosely produced banger that it didn't get.
TV Off's second half is rad but the first half isn't doing a whole lot for me. Dodger Blue is growing on me. Peakaboo has too much cartoon shit going on with the vocals but I respect him finding odd tuplets to rap over the beat with and hope he explores that further with less wacky inflections. It all comes across like mixtape situation with a scattered assortment of unrelated songs rather than a really cohesive listen with a lot of connective tissue between songs like he's done multiple times before.

^ spot on analysis man. To me Damn succeeds in all the ways gnx fails. People are already comparing the two albums to death and im just not hearing anything that puts gnx in front of damn. There isn’t a song on it that can touch humble/element/yah/dna etc. even the sza tracks are just worst versions of loyalty/love
