Yeah, that's a good way to describe it. Also this album speaks more to where I am now in life than B,S does, and I think it will even more so as I get older. This is less immediate, but like you said it's more palpable and I guess emotionally raw would be a way to say it.

holy shit, sputhype got me another awesome album this year. such a consistent album. only the drumming is rather average which keeps me away from 5ing it. love the muffled screams. Julia, Wendy&Betsy and Michael are banger

congrats mwY

nice, this is easily AOTY and it's a minor atrocity that it didn't even place top 10 in staff voting
I still need to check Emery a few more times, I only listened to it twice

Hahaha, no probs! Snagged that Cursive album, the Tiny Moving Parts records, and Yndi Halda's Enjoy Eternal Bliss to name a few. Gonna dive into as much as I can though before it's over.

Yeah Cursive and mwY were the first ones I saw. There is also The Fall of Troy and some rather tiny, but talented british bands I saw at the ArcTanGent (festival for math rock etc.) like Jamie Lenman, Delta Sleep, Talons, Orchards and so much more. Big Scary Monster had a "label battle" against Holy Roar (Rolo Tomassi e.g.) so this action really makes my holidays. Again: THANK YOU MAN

ended the year as my #2 and I fully admit that the Emery album is #1 for personal reasons

first track is mwY's 'Vices' - unexpectedly loud, becomes memorable the more you listen to it
