Listened to Load today, almost 15 years since the last time. Still sounds great. A underrated album.

If the name on the cover wasn't Metallica, it would be regarded very, very differently.
I don't even flinch when I say it's their second best album. And there are days when I almost have the balls to say it's the best.

I'm fine with the stylistic change, so Metallica being the band who made it isn't my issue at all. My problem is that Load or ReLoad both have so much filler to pad out their runtimes. Similar to Beatles' White Album, there are just so many inessential songs that could have been cut.
With that said, I do think this album has some of the band's more underappreciated cuts. 2X4, Until It Sleeps, The Outlaw Torn, Mama Said, and King Nothing are all great

Still petitioning for the Hetfield Country Solo Album

When you take the best songs from both albums and throw in Turn the Page.. Fuck..

Seems like a lot of people have gravitated toward that idea. I tend to want to keep ReLoad as far away from this as possible, even if it does have a couple killer fuckin' riffs.

Indeed...no one would have bothered listening to that crap.

I’m another who reckons Load is fine but Reload isn’t. Much like Maiden’s X Factor was fine but Virtual XI isn’t

this album is a blast, completely and utterly overhated just because it's not thrash metal

I KNEW I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE THINKING THIS HAHAHAHA!

yeah i wish everyone would just pursue a solo career at this point...james would do a good country rock album, kirk would do some psychedelic acid/stoner rock or something more experimental based on his current tastes, and lars could probably do a decent hard rock/NWOBHM-styled album

Lars probably doesn't care to do anything outside of Metallica. Seems too lazy and probably only still plays because of the cash cow he's a part of
