Alternative Rock and Hard Rock sometimes have pretty much no difference at all but this is kinda Pop Punk-y if anything

I never really thought these guys were pop punky, but that's not the first time I have seen someone say something like that.

Oh well.

no, in the grand scheme of things, there's a fair bit of pop punk in this.

the meaning of 'pop punk' has expanded significantly in the last two decades. if the vocals were more

whiny and high pitched, this song would be considered pop punk, even though they're normally

considered a hard rock/mainstream rock band.

similarly, weezer is not considered pop punk for their time in the 90s, but were those albums to come

out today, not only would they not be so highly regarded, but they would doubtlessly be considered pop

punk.

Most of the pop punk I have listened to was in the mid 90s to early 2000s.

I would not have considered weezer to be pop punk either. Interesting.

Wouldn't Weezer be considered more emo? Just wondering I don't know shit about pop punk.

"no and no. weezer is not pop punk ffs."

in context of the 90s = a very underdeveloped pop punk genre -> no, they weren't.

were they to be released now = significant genre expansion -> yes, they would be.

weezer is a pop rock band, specifically a power pop + alt rock one.
