I get why some people don't dig Savers as much, but I am fairly certain that it's meant to be awkward fucking fuck. Anyone that's been in that state of mind will tell you, that times like those, you almost cant help but push people away. I think the song is trying to accomplish that desperation that people tend to try to distance themselves from. Go ahead and tell me I'm looking too far into it, but that's how I feel about that song.

And I feel like Why Oh Why? Is sort of set up the same way and toward the same person but to a lesser extent, and by the time Savers rolls around he's like damn, "I really don't wanna die, you know, throw something my way. I would do the same for you."
