It's one of my favorite albums of all time, and I still find it hard to get through one complete listen.

I find this really easy to get through in one sitting, which is what I suppose sets it apart from F#A# in my eyes

Album Rating: 4.0
im the opposite, F#A# i can always listen to front to back. the music always draws me in, and it has less stuff that i consider "filler" (or just boring spots)
|
| |
F#A# is better yea

All I know is this has Sleep which is the greatest song ever made

it's good but again it has lots of boring "ambient" parts which kinda kill it
sure they might be used to help break up the ultra-climactic highs and walls of sound, but i just dont find them engaging
dead flag blues and east hastings bring me more feels with less noise
|
| |
this is completely mesmerizing even when there isn't much going on imo. at the end of the album i'm always like "damn that was amazing"

Hmm I see your points but Providence is a real drag for me, I think that's my main problem. But they're both amazing albums so yeah
|
| |
i feel like the ambient parts make this the kind of listening experience that it is. they add a dimension of weight that outweighs any possible negative consequences of the lack of "action" they bring to the table.

Seriously though, the final five minutes of the album is one of the most beautiful moments in music I've ever heard.
