I mean I'm listening to some of this again now and I really do like a lot of the music (especially when they get back to writing thrashy stuff), but all the loudness war garbage popping in the drums and crappy guitar sound really irk me. Sometimes if I zone out I can forget about it, but once I come out of the zone it's like my ears are suddenly being stabbed.

im sorry, i love metallica but some of it is the fuck! from the 1980's to maybe the early 90's was great. even some of the black album i had liked for. why do they keep insisting bad production? guitar sounds like it was recorded on grandpa distortion pedal.

New song sounds pretty dang good to me - the production is great, it's succinct and to the point, riffage is spot on; in other words, good stuff. I'm iffy on the song titles for the rest of the album, but I'm remaining cautiously hopeful since what we just heard is pretty promising.

i listen to a fan mastering of this with my own alternate tracklist and it would probably amount to a 4.5 for me but it would be dishonest in regard to the actual product

as for the new stuff, album art and title are super embarrassing but the song is ok and it doesnt sound awful
