When this band was really getting big I was really not into the whole scene-core...scene, I remember hearing that autotune intro to Writing on the Wall and viscerally hating it. And also not really a Jesus guy. So I thought this band was lame and never really gave them another thought.
Got dragged out to one of their shows in like 2009 and they were honestly incredible, crazy energy, kind words from the stage but nothing preachy, top notch performance and a crowd that was so incredibly into it, just impossible not to have a great time at that show. Wound up checking out this album and really getting into it, and then later going back and really getting into DTGL as well.
DTGL in particular for the time that it dropped is just such a stellar album, really impressive, really ahead of its time and just a damn perfect phxc record.
The very first single they dropped after hiatus was such dogshit. Literally everything interesting about their sound was gone but ~ooooo they say fuck now.~ I did that album one time and never again and now they've apparently only gotten worse so I won't even be bothering. I get that people get old and have families and maybe aren't putting the same energy into it they used to but goddamn it's always baffling to see bands that were that talented and interesting drop off so hard to make the most uninspired bullshit, like how much self awareness comes with that? They always be saying shit like THIS IS OUR BEST MOST MATURE EFFORT TO DATE IT'S TRULY A CULMINATION OF EVERYTHING WE ARE AS ARTISTS AND PEOPLE. Woof.

I agree with the shape of my jizz

In the flesh and blood, or source code if we're being technical here
|
| |
I do agree with the thread in that the new material lacks the passion that made all their pre-breakup albums great. feels like reforming was just a business' decision and less of an artistic one

If you used to write good music but didn't say fuck it's okay to come back and write shitty music as long as you say fuck.

I’m good man. Did you acct did deleted?

Less deleted and more password was completely forgotten and I got annoyed trying to remember it. I think I tried changing it like a few days before the forums got swallowed by the void last year. Hence why I was gone for awhile

Per James’ wife:
“But the greatest of them is this: James has always been and remains the most consistent, humble, and gentle individual that I have ever known.
Last month, he played a festival show, filmed a music video, and looked on to next steps. He went to Costco and stocked our pantry and freezer so that we'd have everything we needed during his time away. He prepared to pack for a month long tour, and three days before they were to leave, the rest of the band abruptly decided otherwise. No more, no less.”
