what i like: Weight of the World, the final minute of Parallels, drums on Coma. Things start to get really samey for me after that.

A Certain Death is a good song ruined once those clean vocals enter. Set in Motion and Ebb and Flow are both filler tracks that went by without me even noticing. Reset is aimless, and its final two minutes feels like pure filler. Homecoming is the only track that feels different, and its a very marginal difference.

Hmmm. I think of Reset and Homecoming as one long song. It transitions perfectly with the acoustics and the building dynamics until there is just one guitar and then boom.

And wtf the cleans are the best part of A Certain Death. Well, accept for the sweet breakdown riff

But Malleus how many times have you listened to this?

Cause it probably took me a good 15 listens to grasp it and another 15 to fall in love with it.

I'm not saying its complex, it's just very relaxed and smooth. Lots of awesome nuances. And I'm not saying you should listen to it 30 times if you don't enjoy I'm just saying its just one of those albums. I thought it was boring at first as well

it isnt exactly a "relaxed" album but the production makes it sound and feel tamer than it should be

That's just what this band does. I've made this point somewhere on Sputnik before, but MS is like metal without being metal. It's just different and awesome

That's funny, you just described my favorite tracks off this record. To me, the first half of the albums is slightly inferior to the second half. Every song beginning with Coma is perfect to me.

It's a relaxed album no, but certain parts definitely are. But I disagree. The album isn't really a super clean and processed sounding production, it's not like a Asking Alexandria or even ABR style production

think about it; this album basically has the same intentions that Malice and the Magnum Heart had. Its just a more sterilised and estrogen infused version. theres nothing on Controller that even comes CLOSE to The Year Summer Ended in June, which is a song that manages to infuse the same ideas of "relaxed" and emotional melodic elements found on Controller, but to me just sounds waaaayyyy better. still produced by Townsend. just not as tame and pulled back. The vocals sound much more sincere. Way more raw. God I love Malice and the Magnum Heart.

to be frank, if your argument is that Controller doesn't have clean production, well then, you lose.

Still, we can agree that MS is better than 87.45% of all other metalcore bands yes?
