'speed trial' is so underrated. it's a perfect intro for an almost flawless album. the chord progression is weirdly uplifting (in a good sense) contrasting with a soul-crushing elliot's vocal performance. It's a honest and heartbreaking piece of music.

I wouldn't say it's underrated in general. I'd say it rules

i mean, tracks such as 'between the bars', 'alameda' and 'say yes' have way more recognition than speed trials. in that sense i'd say that it's a little bit underrated within the album context.

recently watched the documentary "searching for elliott smith" and I thought it was really insightful and heartbreaking
it's pretty low budget compared to the "heaven adores you" doc, but I felt like the interviews were far more informative and did a better job showing both sides of elliott smith. he was such a loving, funny, creative personality, but had so many demons & internal struggles..
must watch for elliott fans
