listening to this right now. "Nosferatu Man" is pretty cool, really digging the trebled-out guitars

If Steve Albini gave it "ten fucking stars", it must be good. With that said, he was certainly right. I don't know why I waited so long to listen to this, but I don't think I've been this amazed by a record on the first listen in quite a while. Every song is so emotive and eerie in the way the structures build up to the louder dynamics, and even the vocals are perfect. While largely spoken, they still convey and cold and calculated feeling to them that fits the music perfectly. This is one of those albums that I consider so heavy because of the atmosphere and sense of hopelessness they present. Songs like "Don, Aman" will build up patiently with the slow, creepy vocals, and "Good Morning, Captain" is just a moody sprawl that schizophrenically goes up and down, creating an atmosphere I still have yet to really feel again. This is what true post-rock is, using rock instrumentation to create something that is no where near traditional. Steve was right. 10 fucking stars
