Hell Awaits is my personal fave, but this is great too. Sadly, I haven't fully enjoyed a single Slayer album post-Reign in Blood, with the exception of Christ Illusion. These guys are actually my least favorite of the Big 4 because of the amount of dead weight in their discography, as well as the fact that I don't believe their classics quite match up to the other 3 bands (even Anthrax, believe it or not)

SNM and HA definitely rule too. Not sure which one I like better though.

@SoccerRiot I think Anthrax has the best modern day material out of the big four. Worship Music and For All Kings are really good, and We've Come For You All isn't terrible.

Worship Music is awesome for sure. Fight 'Em 'Til You Can't is one of the biggest pump-up anthems out there

Maybe I'm sounding close-minded, but whenever this band tries slower stuff (which was featured a lot more on those albums), I just can't get into it. I feel like these guys aren't built for slow metal; it just sounds unconvincing, phony, and like they're trying way too hard to bring out a "creepy" atmosphere. It's about as dated and try-hard as Marilyn Manson's shock tactics from the 90s

Dead Skin Mask is one of my all time top slayer songs. And then Seasons still has Expendable Youth, War Ensemble, Hallowed Point, Born of Fire... the whole tracklist honestly

"Spirit in Black" is my fave on that album. Kick-Ass chorus and groove.

Sorry, I'm just really really really jaded toward this band. I never understood why they were so beloved, and why I shouldn't just listen to Megadeth or Metallica's classic output compared to them. Hell, if I want fast, filthy thrash, I'll just put on Pleasure to Kill instead

I’d probably take the stretch of Reign, Seasons, and South over Metallica golden age. Megadeth is a harder call... they might edge

I have this radical attitude where I like it all.

Except Anthrax, they suck.

Lmao

I actually do dig Anthrax, but comparing their best work to shit like Reign In Blood, Master of Puppets and Rust In Peace is just ridiculous...like the fact that theyre even mentioned in the same sentence is absurd to me lol
