“I don't think that counts as a "but this!" comment. He's just saying that alt/indie rock fans are more sensitive to than hip hop fans.“

Okay, but just to be clear, this isn’t true (also missing a word that may change your intent)

Oh yeah, didn't notice. More sensitive to injustice. Too lazy to edit the comment and no one cares so whatever.

If we’re using Chris Brown as an example (as someone else did), there was a constant uproar on social media about cancelling his music. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone outside of Sputnik complain about Jesse Lacey.

it's weird that the pivot is always to hip hop, but not to say metal which at least is under the same meta umbrella musically and culturally

It’s almost as if there’s something about the majority of hip hop artists that makes them a target for gaslighting white boys 🧐

Most people I know/mention Brand New to don’t know who they are, much less Jesse Lacey. Nobody says “nice shirt” when I wear my BN shirt out (whereas with my Deftones, AiC, Mastodon etc shirts, I hear it a few times a day).

Yeah, probably that their music is pretty fucking bad.

Popularity doesn’t reflect on quality and, in many cases, popular music is the worst.

Most people just don’t know who they are, but I see you guys trying to twist my words to fit your viewpoint lol.

i'd say brand new are at least as popular as mastodon

they're huge among the 'just moved away from radio music but not too far away' hipster crowd

on RYM, TDAG has 10.1k votes while Mastodon’s most (Leviathan) only has 9k. Brand New are definitely massive amongst the serious music listener community, they just never had radio play like Mastodon

is the "serious music listener" community bigger than the "knows who chris brown is" community?

no, I was just talking about the shirt guy. DEFTONES AND AIc run circles around them both though in the SMLC
