The farthest I will go down this road is that knowing the source of the angst and guilt behind Jesse's lyrics certainly makes them more impactful, if you're willing to risk giving him your empathy, which I am. I think empathy is a thing almost everyone is worthy of.

You realize that if the exact same events happened to a band I do not like, I would be taking the exact opposite stance. For one, Pete Wentz isn’t much better than Jesse Lacey and it’s frustrating to me how his allegations never got to ruin him.



But the playing field is changed when you are literally going after my #1 band. There are millions of other bands in the world. You could have taken down literally any other one and I would not care as much as I did the fact that you went after my #1.

This might be unpopular. Jesse is nasty af, I wouldn't go to the shows. But, if people want to go to Brand New shows, and hear their favourite music, it's not my place to judge them if they value the tunes over his actions. With the info we have now, I don't think anyone is unhappy that Jesse being a pos is public knowledge. imo just pulling out the pedo sympathiser (and 15 year old mentality) ad hominems, as if someone is trying to defend Jesse's actions, is tiresome.

The issue here is that he's actively disregarding his actions as opposed to balancing them against the value of the music. Also I think it's worth remembering that the worst part of the accusations isn't the age difference in and of itself, but the aspects of exploitation/manipulation that it facilitated.
