Deja has the most questionable lyrical content for sure—Me Vs Maradonna Vs Elvis has aged horribly. I'm sure Jesse cringes at those lyrics now too. Can't imagine how many young boys in the early 2000s latched onto that shitty Bukowski "I'm the victim cause I'm so good at tricking women into sleeping with me and feel nothing" mindset. Woof.

But yeah—I love TDAG, Daisy, and Sci-Fi. It's shitty, but they're damn fine records.

Well Moose Blood literally had a song called 'Bukowski' which in hindsight is a massive warning sign to their members being shitty people (and also have creepy lyrics like 'girl you know just how to fuck')

All I know and all I care about is that Brand New is the shit, made great music and I love all of their albums except for YFW.

Don’t really care about anything else.

@Larkinhill That’s probably the best way to go about it.

Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. Bands are doing this all the time, and not just bands, but you can get some shitty guys at shows who feel that it’s okay to touch and grab women without their consent and treat them as if they’re objects. If we continue to give bands a platform after they have abused it, we're sending out the message that this behaviour is acceptable within this scene, and bands will continue to do this while only getting a slap on the wrist, and of course, fans of these bands will feel it’s okay to act in that way too.

see this is the exact kind of mindset that needs to stay the fuck out of shows; if that's really all you care about you should stay home and only listen to the music instead of perpetually turning the other cheek when big name musicians are revealed to be pieces of shit and filling their pockets with cash by seeing them live

Yeah I was more meaning the actual music. Until Jesse proves that his half baked apology was genuine and actually tries to make things right, he ain’t getting any money from me. New music or live shows. The music is in fact still some of the best of all time though.

how could anyone ever prove their apology is genuine. also idk what people expect him to do, there's not really anything he can do to "fix" things.

michael vick and all of those unjustly incarcerated people would LOVE to have a word with you

if jesse gets his shit together he can be the poster child for preventing sexual misconduct at shows, he does seem like he’s begging for forgiveness and will take any measure in getting back on the map post-BN breakup

Jesse’s punishment is that this conversation will continue for the rest of his life, and if he really thinks that’s a sad outcome imagine what would’ve happened if he wasn’t a famous musician and pulled the same stuff.

Maybe I mean more put actions to his words, because anybody can say their sorry. I will say getting help is a good first step for him. Take the Michael Vick approach. Use the reach you have and do everything in your power to shed light on these issues and become a voice in that area. All Jesse has done is release a vague apology and go radio silent, unless more stuff has come about since then that I’m not aware of.

Honestly he doesn’t owe anything more to fans, especially since Brand New isn’t even a thing anymore.

Fair, he doesn’t owe me anything in any way, but for me he’d have to prove he’s actually changed before he tries to come back and make music, at least for me. I really don’t care what other people do or don’t do. I like Garrett Russell’s approach, basic as it is “if it makes you uncomfortable, don’t support the artist, if it doesn’t then go for it.” Everything else is just virtue signaling and grandstanding

you should have sexually harassed me instead, Jess. I would have kept quiet. I would have protected you. I would have kept you safe.

I don't know, man, maybe you should be pissed at Jesse for taking advantage of underaged girls instead.

I mean, the acts happened in 2003, so it’s not like simply harassing underage girls ruined it for him. The acts lingered for 15 years and didn’t affect him. It was the fact that his wrongdoings became public.

Had he done it n 2017, then I’d be angry at him for being a selfish fucking moron and putting his deviant pleasures ahead of the legacy of his band and his fanbase when he had everything going right for him
