I agree with park, majority of thrash bands gets really repetitive in the long run

Thrash just really isn’t all that interesting of a genre outside of the real top tier artists/albums imo

I am spit balling here, but is thrash literally the only mainstream genre of music that doesn't fit with synths/keyboards?

if you add synths it becomes power metal

its kinda weird cuz nocturnus could do it and their style was pretty thrashy all things considered

but i cant think of a single thrash band to consistently use synths in their songs

Just don’t make it so long. That’s my biggest issue with this and Death Magnetic. There’s no reason for either to be a full 20 mins longer than their 80’s material. Cut some of the fat plz

all metallica albums since at least the black album have been too long for their own good

theyre all like 65-80 mins

it really amplifies their problems

I'm not sure the band would even be capable of deviating from this sound at this point of their career.

tbf their sound is a lot more unique compared to like 2010s testament, kreator, exodus etc

not saying its better

but it doesnt feel quite as generic

Oh yeah for sure.

I was more so referring to how Death Magnetic and especially this album are just them sticking to their comfort zone. Highly doubt the next one will be any different... if anything I'd bet on songs like Hardwired and Spit Out the Bone being subbed out for more mid tempo black album/load style stuff like Dream No More

i think death magnetic has more dynamic writing than a lot of the bands i mentioned have nowadays

even tho it might not have RIFFZ

id even go so far as to say all these albums, except maybe reload, would be pretty okay if they were trimmed to just the best 45-50 mins of material, and maybe less loud for the metal ones
