This was somewhat new, and it worked to a level. I don't understand all the 4.5's I was seeing in the first 2 weeks of release, and now everyone's just shitting on this album. The album is good, it takes time to grow but it's very solid.

I had it at a 4 when it dropped but over time it's dropped off for me like no album has so far this year. Not a terrible album, just okay.

"and now everyone's just shitting on this album"
deftones hate is nothing new for this site

Doesn't help that it came out the same time as The White Album, which completely shits on it.

because Weezer and Deftones are totally similar

Not saying that, I'm saying that they were two albums I was hugely anticipating and one happened to be a million times better than the other.

didn't care for it tbh, sure it was fun but it was too generic to be something I would go back too.
kinda my overall opinion on Weezer tbh

This is kind of a snooze-fest save for a few tracks, let's be honest.
Weezer are and always have been about emotional connection. If you connect with the music you're gonna love it, if not it probably won't do anything for you.

"If you connect with the music you're gonna love it, if not it probably won't do anything for you."
i would assume that if you connect with any music at all you're gonna love it, but most of the greats can be appreciated even if you don't connect, just going off the strength of the music itself
just playing devil's advocate i don't give a toss about weezer either way

Pinkerton, Blue and White (and maybe some of Green) feel geniune and earnest which is why I and so many others enjoy them so much.
Raditude and Make Believe feel phoned in and disingenuous which is why they make me want to kill myself whenever I hear anything from them.

"Weezer are and always have been about emotional connection."
never had an emotional connection with them because I never really thought they had any emotion in their music aside from a few tracks. The White Album is a pretty prime example of that honestly.

i mean i understand what you're saying but that isn't a rebuttal of my argument

Music is subjective and there's a difference between appreciating and conencting.
For example I'm not a fan of TPAB but I can appreciate it.

I like a lot of individual tracks, but other then Blue I don't really care about any Weezer albums as a whole.
This > White Album by a lot, even though Endless Bummer may be better then anything on Gore.

To suggest Weezer aren't emotional is strange to me.
