"opening pair still riffs for days" my god yes it does. Two of their very best tracks.

Since July I don’t think a day has gone past other than Xmas where I haven’t listened to Opeth.
Band has consumed my life.

Yes it is. Everything that's good about them wrapped up into one cohesive, 10 minute package of gloriousness.

Fun fact about the track: Mikael started the track with those softer notes on purpose, wanting to enrage fans with the idea that they'd get another prog-only Damnation-like record, only to blast them to smithereens with the GHOOOOST OOFFF MOOOTHHHEEEERRR part right after. Quality prank!

Mikael seems a top lad. Knows his stuff, good taste and a good sense of humour. Probably beats his wife for all I know but he certainly seems a gentle soul.

Mikael probably has the best speaking voice ever. And his growls back in the day were second to none too.

Wow, this is turning into a Mikael love-in... where do I sign up?
Maintain that if I was to play one track to any open-minded newcomer then Baying of the Hounds would be the choice. It’s definitely one of their more potentially immediate songs imo, plus it’s a nice microcosm of what to expect. Plus, well, it rules so there’s that. Top 10 Opeth.
