I never jam this anymore outside of Valbaara because Augment just feels like a better version of this in every way.

i mean yea augment does exactly as the title suggests to the sound they had on this but how you gonna skip over render the void, heart, invent, efflorescent, seven, architect, honestly the whole rest of the record

Everytime I hear metalcore now I think "wow this is ass, maybe i overrated" Erra. Then I go back to this record and am immediately proven wrong.

This and Augment are two different beasts entirely to me, and even tho Augment is my favorite, Impulse is pretty close behind it

yea they kinda tap into different feelings for me too. augment feels more earthy, and is done on a grander more immaculate scale, where this almost has this cosmic spacey intangible magic to it that i cant quite put my finger on

Nah fam, Augment is more techy and Impulse is more ethereal–they're like complimentary albums

I prefer Jesse's singing on Augment while I prefer Garrison's screaming on this. I don't really know which one I like better I just know that they're my top 2 albums by a considerable margin.

jesse for sure gets better on the following records but i really love how he sounds on this and think it perfectly complements the youthfulness of this record. i actually think both sound better on augment (on the whole, everything sounds better on augment actually lol) but garrison sounded incredible on everything he did. i do ever so slightly prefer this record since its leaner and prettier and has the added bonus of ending on my favorite erra song but theyre really close

theyre my top two albums ever tho yea

self titled is a hook machine but the types of melodies are rlly different rhan they are here so definitely fair. only song that really reminds me of those sorta ascending types of melodies he used to write is remnant, which in turn is my fav erra song since augment lol thats the closest ive ever felt to that particular magic in the new lineup
