Sounds nice, thanks for confirming that it's a huge mistake to never have seen them again
Looking at the setlist from Nov 2nd in Belgium, oh my god this is a good setlist. Parenthesis 1 2 3 7 6 AND 8 WTF is this bro

New song is fucking gorgeous
Reminds me a little of Radiohead's Harry Patch tribute

New song was solid, reminds me of Valtari and the recent Jonsi solo record. Would be nice if they mixed up the new album with some of that Kveikur vigor, but the band might be past that after a decade.

I'd say it was quite a bit more than solid, but maybe I'm just hyped right now since I just listened to it 3x on repeat. I understand the Valtari comparison, but while the styles overlap, I think this has way more emotional impetus driving it.
Sounds so sorrowful and beautiful. Like a song to end all songs. Breathtaking, really. Seriously can't wait for the album to drop tomorrow.

new song is okay, appreciate it not shoehorning a crescendo but it also v much needs a solid rest-of-album to drape itself over and ooo-err are we gonna get one huh

I fucking hate Valtari and the new song is disappointing
I was hoping for something more in the Kveikur direction

Same same to get Valtari 2.0 after a decade is gonna be such a drag

To be clear I like Valtari a lot and found Obsidian very good. But yeah Kveikur is the best thing any of the band members have touched since Takk.

I dig Valtari, preferred Kveikur but honestly want something totally different / fresh

Kveikur is better than Takk too
I just wouldn’t want v2. Need something different

Kveiker rules but I think I like it more as a one-off style. When I think of Sigur Ros, I think of the beatiful soundscapes of ( ). I wouldn't at all mind an album that is equidistant between Kveiker and the new song, though.
|

Kveikur is miles better than Takk for sure lol, drippy dreamy Sigur Ros kinda peaked and died on this record, and Agaetis is the mystical wonderchild that got away and shows up everything else they've done forevermore

Agreed, this is definitely their peak for that style so honestly I'm not really sure what I want from them anymore lol
