'To answer your question, any band or artists political views, should i agree with them or not, should be kept to themselves in my opinion. Are there artists out there that have a tainted influence on me because of their need to aggressively express themselves politically, the answer is yes.'

Eh it's pretty overrated I think. A lot of songs on here are alright but just meh in comparison to some of the bigger singles. It's simply too long, imo. Siamese Dream will always be their best album songwriting wise. There aren't any bad songs on Siamese Dream.

exactly Egarran

why? because it's just not worth arguing about

the reality speaks for itself with the comment section of online articles......people truly express themselves there, just like here, but wouldn't dare do it in a more personal platform

i'm more put off by artists publicizing their religious affiliation (ESPECIALLY when it's through the music itself) than any political outings, provided said outings aren't just thinly-veiled racist/homophobic agendas

Corgan's whole religious "awakening" kind of made the Pumpkins not make sense anymore, from the reunion onward

In the 90s there was this sort of alluring demonic thing about them following Siamese Dream but after Zeitgeist it's essentially just been a bald hippie farting around

thinking about it now though, it does seem to have dimished significantly, when you compare what things were like around 2010-ish to now

pretty excited for whatever he, Jimmy & James have been cookin up

This has been a wonderful little conversation with myself and i hope to do it again soon

This isn't completely related, but it kind of is.. But an example of someone who sucked before and after switching religions is Dave Mustaine. His voice sucked and was annoying when he wasn't religious and it still sucks now that he's religious.

One thing I didn't really notice was how much goes into Smashing Pumpkins guitar parts. There's a lot of subtle stuff going on if you try to play these songs. For example, there's a beautiful guitar melody underneath the song '1979' that adds a lot to it but isn't blatantly obvious on first listen.

After learning guitar in the past year, I've really grown to appreciate Corgan. Before, I thought he was ok but now I think he's pretty great songwriter. Or he was. He's a great guitarist. He's a surprisingly sophisticated guitar player. Some of the guitar parts aren't things many people would probably write or come up with.

Even if you don't like Corgan, I really recommend you guys check out some videos of him playing guitar or talking about guitars. You may appreciate this band a lot more after seeing how much effort he puts into everything. And how unique he really is. He was an anomoly of his time. Way ahead of many of his contemporaries at the time in the 90's as far as guitar work and songwriting.

This one has some of my favorite distortion and fuzz tracks in all of music. It's a shame half of the record is fluffy dream pop.

Yeh some of the fluff i cbf with. But its got kevin shields help so the texture is generally nice enough.

The lyrics are fkn awesome too. He gets his point across describing melancholie.. "be the king of blue" " nothing is important" the aforementioned lyrics from muzzle. I heard he fkn loves wrestling now?
