I saw The Cure last night and wow. Can't really put into words how great they are live. Robert Smith has to be doing some kind of black magic to still sing that well at his age.

The five new songs were excellent too and very much closer to their goth trilogy sound. Phenomenal live although I can't lie and say I'm not sad that didn't play 5 other songs I know and love instead. I'd have killed to hear them play A Strange Day.

tbh this drags a bit in spots and i feel like this band's been outdone in this department but there's good shit here

I can see what you mean about the dragging, I don't throw this on in full very often, but it's definitely their best album in my eyes.

It drags only if you don't listen to it during rain. If you go in during a summer day, your attention dissipates. This is Scientific.

Just stay up all night and look out a window on an overcast day, having just smoked a cigar, the spices from last night’s meal kindling softly in the basin of your throat, with a fan lightly blowing air toward your right leg and your tongue stuck to the inside of your lower bite, and breathe. Just breathe, listen to this, don’t think about it much any direction or interpretation, don’t assume, don’t assume so you don’t have to have a simulacrum to boss fight your way through. But wait. Deep breath. That “whenever I’m alone… with you” that seems to inhale and exhale and run up all at once inside and you need a way to get out but there’s only rain. So you go outside, and there’s disintegration and the rain and the slightly faster singing like being caught unawares. And both lungs full simultaneously, but the right one somehow not as much as the left and you wonder why the hand that gripped that glass didn’t leave a fingerprint from their ring finger. That’s Disintegration.

this is probably my 2nd favorite "consensus classic" ever made behind automatic for the people

I didn't fully grasp this album until I went through a pretty heavy emotional time in my life where I got some reality altering information regarding some stuff in my family and it fucked me up for a bit. I'd just play this album staring at the ceiling for days on end. Anyone can enjoy this but if you're in the right headspace it just clicks and makes you feel a way that not many other albums can do.
