as much as I love this record and bought it weeks after it was released, if I don't spin it on wax I'm going to skip Marching, And With Her..., and (unfortunately) sometimes Thirtyfour these days. as well done as all of them are, I don't really wish to return to them - the feelings I get from them peaked awhile ago and some days sound listless if I don't put myself in the headspace I had 10 years ago for em.
I don't skip anything on Salvation except Crossing Over cuz that has some projected weight on it over the years and I can't most days. Salvation is more consistent, riffs more, hits harder with the tones, and sounds less frail (fair enough given how vulnerable SAtH is supposed to sound like). Plus I'm sure I'll forever miss Klas's presence, which I definitely would've prefer him being on all on this. Saw SAtH live almost 3 time already, but even now I'm preferring the A Dawn to Fear over this, and this is me talking as like the ultimate CoL fanboy with some EK artwork on his back...

Skipping tracks on your fives is like skipping leg day. Maybe you want to but deep down you know it ain't right

you right
time to downgrade cuz so far A Dawn to Fear feels more full-bodied and is feeling like their culmination in sound

I prefer Salvation to this, but I'm a considerable way off from even considering downgrading it. It was my first CoL experience though, which perhaps plays a part. I'll be interested to see if my thoughts change over the years. When you've been listening to something regularly for over a decade your perception is bound to change, whether the end result is a positive one, or not. Especially if it's linked to a certain time in your life, that emotional weight can be daunting, even slightly misleading, then one day everything seems different.
OK, that got a bit heavy.

I never connected music with personal life, only with age, if that makes any sense. I never associated any releases with any events happening to me, regardless of their importance, impact or positivity/negativity.
