it's the underrated album that everyone hates on for literally zero reason

No Heroes isn't better than this, but it isn't "meh" either.
This is almost giving me flashbacks to that guy who had Axe to Fall rated lower than I did saying it "should be a crime" to have it on the bottom, lmao.

It's ridiculously more consistent than this, there are some songs on here better than on No Heroes but overall this disappoints quite a bit

How is this inconsistent, btw?

wait wasn't No Heroes their return to form after everyone shat on YFM, times change I guess

YFM's only serious issues had to do with production. Which got resolved.

maybe not inconsistent in terms of sound, just in quality I guess is what I mean to say

except the production was fine

Ahh, I gotcha Zombie. I'll have to re-listen, but I'm pretty sure this was the first album that sold me on Converge's brilliance. Then I revisited their other work.

the production on the original grew on me, I like both version pretty interchangeably

I think No Heroes is more strong overall than this. I like the fast tracks a lot more than something like Arkhipov Calm. Broken Teeth and Orphaned are BANGERS. And the first gauntlet of 4 or so tracks is like Nails levels of heavy. And slower stuff isn't as boring as some of the stuff on this record. A Single Tear goes up there with some of their best songs of all time though, not gonna lie.

“Dark Horse alone goes harder than every track on this album if you multiplied all their effects together as one.”
this is objectively false
like that’s not even the heaviest song on that album. Arkhipov Calm, Broken By Light, Reptilian, and especially I Can Tell You About Pain shred.

Agree that no heroes is better than this but this is basically the second weakest converge so

This is worst Converge easy for me, even considering the No Heroes super dip in quality. And yes, Halo in a Haystack is also better than this (and maybe No Heroes too)

Halo at least has hunger that exploded into something insane shortly after. This just sounds like they’re tired of making music and/or are out of ideas.
