Never been a big Tull fan tbh
I had always really liked Aqualung, but it took me a long time to warm up to Tull myself. Even so, I still have a stronger connection to Genesis, Yes, Floyd, Crimson and Camel.
Btw, have you heard Bursting Out? It's a truly fantastic live album that raised my interest in/appreciation of Tull a great deal.

Most good live album 'merely' feature great performances of an artist's original work, but Bursting
Out has become top tier for me, alongside the likes of Leeds, Fillmore East, Made in Japan, Irish
Tour, to name a few of my absolute favourites. I probably even enjoy it a tiny bit more than any Tull
studio album, honestly.

"A 3 does sound way farfetched"
Yea no ratings under a 4.5 are allowed on this thread. Oh wait ;)

Probably like all the other live albums you just named, Bursting Out was made with their classic line up and the song renditions are mostly more impressive live than in studio.

It's a really solid record. Just can't connect with it as much as most people.
I really love the last three minutes of Siberian Khatru and the more ambient section of the title
track.

Same here man, hence why this is a 4 for me and not a 4.5 ;).

I think the reason I connect with Tull more than any other prog band (going back to the discussion on the previous page) is because their music was focussed much more on song writing than any other prog band. I mean there's some amazing musicianship in classic Tull but the song writing always came first which makes it easier for me to connect with their music emotionally.

I kinda thought the reason you liked Tull more was because of the folk elements JT.
Used to think that, anyway.

Nah, conforming is actually for pussies

@danny: Well that sort of goes hand in hand with the focus on song writing; Anderson is basically a folk singer/songwriter fronting a prog band.
But yes the folk elements are another reason.
