I try to be a voice of reason haha. While sometimes it falls upon deaf ears I appreciate when real recognizes real. Thanks Eclipse bby.
These 1's just have a boner for Glassjaw which hey, I don't blame you guys they fucking rule. But this is arguably even catchier and dare I say it... FUN???

I get the distaste since this just takes early 2000s Post-Hardcore and adds in modern Pop Punk influence but id still take this above most Post-Hardcore in this decade.

I guess that's partially why I hate it. To me pop punk is the most cancerous subgenre of the past decade. Like, why does it even exist ffs
|
| |
Yeah idk this is just fun. And that first glassjaw LP aged so poorly haha. Worship and tribute is still that shit tho

Pop Punk has existed for longer than a decade lol
I still love Glassjaw debut even with its badly aged lyrics. Worship and Tribute always has been their top album tho yeah.

Yeah, I know that xD

Ah.
Yeah Pop Punk in this decade has been pretty bad. Most of it now is just Wal-Mart brand Lifetime.

Some of the subgenres seem to undergo this weird popularisation phenomenon. Metalcore after Killswitch got big, Djent after Meshuggah's Obzen... I don't really have an explanation for it though. Not sure what started the bs pop punk trend, but it looks like it's going to die pretty dang soon.

I’m gonna be honest I don’t hear much pop punk in this at all

Its predominantly Post-Hardcore but theres some hints of Pop Punk with some of Jason Butlers vocal melodies. Its also got an even higher emphasis on pop choruses than what its influenced by.

fake music

Yeah the choruses are poppy and shiny but so are glassjaw’s sometimes haha idk

Glassjaw arent nearly as Pop as this and the vocal melodies are pretty Pop Punk. Plus this has stuff like Lemon Party. Pop Punk is so vague anyways that you could just take any Punk oriented song with catchy choruses and argue its Pop Punk on some level so I guess it aint much of a hill to die on.

I want to add 2 (personal) things: Butler can scream better than Palumbo. and letlive were really nice people while Glassjaw aren't assholes, but they certainly can communicate way better with their fans. Yes, I am salty for the third cancelled Germany tour in a row without rescheduling. Yes, I know crohn's disease is literally a pain in the ass. But last time they canceled, they were playing at ATG and London 2 days later...probably because they simply booked venues that were too large and were selling poorly. Luckily I was at ATG. So letlive definately get a bonus for sympathy.
However, Worship and Tribute is still better than this.

also Glassjaw are consistently awesome while Letlive only had this album. Blackest Beautiful would have been killer, if they had not chosen this stupid poor ass production

Yeah I mean I like Shelter and Descendants too I don’t have a horse in this race

Descendants are so great. Havent listened to them in waaay too long. Shelter are a band ive known for a long time but have yet to get onto. Actually have Mantra on my computer waiting to be listened to.

Attaining the supreme is such a cool record, definitely flirts with pop punk but also is part of the whole krishnacore thing. But anyway, super catchy, highly recommend it. Mantra is more abrasive and reminds me of RATM at times but it’s still sick

Better than anything Glassjaw ever did, one of the best post-hardcore albums of all time. Fight me.

Yea shut up
