I feel kinda bad here because the songwriting and performances really are damn good and I feel like it's my fault for not syncing to the album's pace, but everything after In My Time Of Need up to To Rid the Disease does v little for me. I love the style and execution of Windowpane so much that it overshadows the other songs' slower atmosphere imo

I mean Windowpane is a fucking showstopper with those Capo riffs. But the rest does a great job of living up to it. It's only 8 tracks and they all stand out to me quite a lot.

Gotta joint the Heritage squad on this one, but mainly because I'm impatient and that album is full of quirks

Yeah I think I took too long to hear this - heard it way past my peak Opeth phase and wasn't quite as ready to bond with it :[ Will dip into it again sometime, it's damn well crafted

It's utterly perfect. But yeah, you def have to be in the perfect melancholic mood for it

Considering that I put it on my iPod just before heading on a month's worth of travels, that mood was hard to come by, and now it's about to be summer :[ Will stick it on next time I feel like having a brood

Guys guys, it's not about the no-growls being worse albums, it's that they are in an inferior genre.

Johnny I feel exactly like this. Windowpane is amazing, but that level isn't maintained throughout. And then Weakness and Ending Credits are great again.
