"Teams have figured out in the modern NFL, you can get an 1000 yard rusher in the later rounds and they are extremely prone to falling off after about year 5."
Yeah it's sad because I understand the players feeling slighted, but in the current NFL landscape, managing teambuilding is so much easier when you just have a solid RB taken in the mid-to-late stages of the draft. They almost always replicate enough production of the stars that they can perform well enough. Pacheco on the Chiefs was a 7th round rookie and was a key piece to their SB run lol, and he's not the only example.

PAGE 100 WE DID IT WOOOOOOOOOOOO
And yeah the future of the position likely lies in dues like CMC or even Deebo, hybrid RB/WR types that are deadly with the ball in their hands and can line up anywhere on the field with a solid route tree.
Which tbh Marshall Faulk was the prototype for this, we have just rarely seen another player of his talent again. Prime Faulk was a beast.

lol once the season starts, it's possible.
I'm a bit more excited now that we have a potential All-Pro WR option and can hopefully get our play action fired up again. But expectations are still basement-level.
2024 should show the trajectory of the team going forward and will be a defining year for us, what with all the expiring contracts and the boatload of cap space we're project to have. We could possibly reload and really turn into something special.

I’d like to see that. I just don’t know how all-pro DHop is gonna be with Tanny throwing at him. But you never know, Tanny could sparkle this year, I’d actually like to see it.
My expectations, on the other hand, get lower by the day. But that’s okay! We’re all gonna live long lives.

Tannehill with a good line and a strong receiving duo was a top 5 QB in 2020, or at least fringe top 5 by multiple metrics. We've not set him up to succeed since then.
Granted, I have my complaints about Tanny, especially when the postseason arrives, but the dude is better than most people say when he can actually operate.

And we gave 100 million to Derek Carr. I like Derek and think he got fucked over in Oakland for years, but 100 million? oof...

It pays to be above average with an elite arm
Also the reality is that it is pretty much market value 🤷♂️

Yeah QB contracts have fucking exploded lol, pretty sure Daniel Jones is making more than Carr even though he's really only had one decently good year. It'll probably get crazier as time goes on.

I’ll be fucking pissed if the Pats sign Leonard Fournette, as much as it would be a pretty good pick up for a #2

Ideally Washington can actually become a respectable franchise now, and competitive. They used to be such a powerhouse before the 2000s hit.

They really ought to rebrand. Wash away as much of the Snyder stain as possible. And IMO that even means no Football Team; make it an entirely fresh identity that truly encompasses an entirely new era. That would go a long way to get fans to buy in, at least a little bit.
