Yeah I actually agree. I enjoy this but it doesn’t touch much of their other material

def understand that perspective but i've never heard anything like The Faultless on their other records

No faultless but there's really no clockworks or rational gaze or nmcc or countless other classic meshuggah tracks of that quality here either. Much of this is mid as hell for meshuggah standards. But when you make great albums your whole career and start getting older it's inevitable your going to kinda drop the ball at some point.

wouldn't disagree but i dunno if i would use the phrase 'drop the ball' seems a bit melodramatic to me. seems fair to expect a wild ride from shug after their 3 decades of being inimitable but i think they deserved to be able to make this comfy & cozy record !!

Glad you love it norm like ford said I wish I liked it more myself. Pretty divisive album honestly. I get the love on this one tho the whole dark melodic atmosphere on here is cool

I still think there are tracks here that are gold standard Shug. Just as a whole it doesn’t stand up to the others. I still adore Cog, Phantoms, Ligature Marks, Faultless and some others

The higher caliber songs here are Broken Cog and Armies, but even those are nowhere near on the level of Clockworks and the likes

Yup. There's not a song on here that's even top 20 meshuggah tbh. They got too much heat. There's 3-4 tracks on every album before this minus cc stronger than anything here. And I'm being generous when I say 3-4

I don’t know I think Cog and Phantoms might crack my 20. It’s close though. And to be fair I don’t have a lot of nostalgia factor with any of their stuff I just got into them a few years back

faultless easily cracks my top 10, and cog would def be in consideration for top 20. i think phantoms would be runner-up for top 20 but not quite in there
