So my brother who knows nothing about hip hop at all listened to this and TPAB and told me he prefers this. He said he found kendricks raps more sonically pleasing and on beat while a lot of the times on TPAB he's just shouting. Obviously don't completely agree but it's an interesting perspective, especially since he has no bias for or against kendrick or due to the relative newness of this album

makes sense, this is far more immediate and inherently enjoyable bread and butter hip-hop with a Kendrick spin (imo), whereas TPaB is trickier; not that its impenetrable or that difficult to get into, just that this is easier

The most disappointing aspect of this release is the critics rating it so highly. It's good; it should not be elevated above To Pimp A Butterfly's status. Or GKMC for that matter.
