Nah Seventh Son is the best, granted, I have a strong bias as a proghead.

This has slowly become my favorite release from them. Right after Powerslave and 7th Son.

@rockandmetaljunkie: "Every Iron Maiden album from the 80's suffer from minor inconsistencies."

I don't think "minor" inconsistencies prevent a 5 if, indeed, they are minor. That's exactly how I'd describe both Seventh Son and PoM: the inconsistencies are very minor, which is why I gave them 5s. The other 80s albums' inconsistencies are more major. It really sucks in the case of NotB and Powerslave because both have several of Maiden's absolute best songs.

That's a fair assumption. Ratings always depend on the logic, or "premise", by which you choose to evaluate an album. If your ratings are fueled by other, non-musical factors such as nostalgia, then, chances are that your ratings may increase...

Also, by "minor inconsistencies", I mean some of the songs are not interesting enough to fully justify a 5, and even some of their best songs have these little annoying segments that are more irritating than gratifying.

When i said keyboard i meant sysnthesizer (im not even sure what the difference is)

My point was that guitar synths are used here and not on 7th Son

Ah yes, it's true. 7th son doesn't use "digital" guitars. But both albums feature keyboards & synths.

@titan

They're vastly different. Think of a synth as a "digital" instrument whereas the keyboard belongs in the analog department.

isn't keyboard supposed to include any key instrument? synths, organ, minimoog, piano, etc?
