Ya evil if you’ve really never properly got into them I’d say even almost 15 years later All We Love We Leave Behind is the best starting point. It’s got all the chaos of their earlier records, a lot of sludgy ass moments, and is maybe the emotional high point of their career. The title track there is fucking heartbreaking.

I’ve never made the trip but I’m almost positive you literally have to drive through STL to get to Chicago from KC. Luc will be in the same city limits as me for 30 mins or so, that’s the closest i get to seeing gorguts so I’m thankful for that at least
