Works perfect as an opener, helps give the album a pretty unique atmosphere. The opening combo of Coil and Heir Apparent is one of the best things about Watershed.

Not really, it sticks to (mostly) the same formula throughout. WS is all over the place from track to track.

Heritage is more experimental, but it wasn't quite as shocking because, to many, it was the natural progression after Watershed. But the fact that Watershed is what came after Ghost Reveries must have surprised a great deal of fans
