But still your life style determines your death style

Kyuss and Alice In Chains were 2 bands who toured with Metallica in ‘93 and their influence is present on Load.

I'm still rather fond of this album, it came out when I was 11 or so, so it might just be looking through rose-colored glasses. But, "The House That Jack Built" is still a banger.

Album was a 2.6 when I joined the site, 2.8 now (pretty big jump for an album with this many votes). Def seems like people are warming up to it.
Never really felt like the hate this gets was ever directed at the actual content of the album anyways....

A few decades, and it might get the beloved 4.2 spot

Lmao... would love to see this get to 3.0 at least

Imagine anyone in 2020 still pissed this isnt a "metal" album.. Grab a beer, fire up the BBQ, maybe play some poker or darts, enjoy the summer breeze.. and jam LOAD.

We lived to see the age where people say that Kyuss influenced alcohollica. What a fucking day this is!

Yep I still meet people who blindly bash this album because it’s “not thrash”. Back in 1996 the hate for this album was unreal. Yet the same people give Risk a pass for some reason.

Can't you understand why? It is because of the fame and money that metallica have attained over the years. People hate you more easily if you're rich.

"Though I didn't grow up in the 90s... I was super into all that same kinda shit as a kid. First CDs I ever bought with my own money were this and Use Your Illusion II (prob because of T2). My Mom used to drive my sister and I to this water park in Leesburg once or twice a summer when we were kids, and I'd always jam this album on my shitty ass ipod nano on the way there cause I knew I could fit the whole thing in. Nothing takes me back to being a 10 year old kid sneaking into my brothers room to play Madden and N64 podracer the way this album does. Same with watching the Cunning Stunts DVD like "I wanna be those guys when I grow up"."
Well early 2000's did not feel as separated from the late 90's, though. I've noticed that whenever I watch now any movie made from 2000-2003, or so, as it still feel very much like 97-99. I did mentioned Road Rash because of the soundtrack. It had Soundgarden songs plus other grunge bands that were coming out at the time. I don't think Metallica was included there, but I did listened to Load/Reload during that period of time. And there was some sort of motorcycle fascination in the mid/late 90's, which is why I also mentioned Terminator. Guns 'N Roses is indeed a perfect example of how I perceive those times, even though it is a much superior album.
Btw I still have an ipod nano and the goddamn thing still works!

I found an old iPod Nano 2nd gen that had 60-70 songs or so. Basically a time capsule of me as a 5th grader. Awesome but cringey find

Don't think I've ever heard someone explain why they dislike this album without saying "not trve metal hurr durr". Paraphrasing of course, it'd probably be more benighted.

No, that’s basically the jist of all the Load hate. “Hurr durr not thrash!!!” The albums is certainly LOADed with flaws but it not being at 170bpm isn’t the issue. Then the same morons will suck Dave Mustaine’s dick and say Megadeth never sold out. How sad.
