This is wonderful on a frigid morning walk.

Agree. Elliott Smith and Nick Drake are awesome for chilly weather. I do think XO >>> this, though.

first time getting into this for the last week, i'm astounded just how good it is. doesnt feel dated at all, just amazing melodies. a lot of artists have followed up on his breathy vocals and confessional lyrics, but the chord progressions on some of these tracks like alameda are still ... weird sounding ... in the best way. way more innovative than i'd have expected

One of the easiest 5's around tbh

I guess it’s the normie pick but having gone though all his albums this one definitely stands out as the best. There’s something special in the chord progressions and melodies that he just never quite got consistently right after this, even if all his other albums are excellent. Everything after this is a bit bloated too and could have lost a few songs, this is the perfect length and there’s only a track or two that are notably weaker than the rest.

Why is it pointless?? I was just reading about it yesterday, and you could make a case for both murder and suicide. I just feel like the story surrounding it has some loose ends, and if he actually did resort to stabbing himself, it really puts a different damper on his music. He was actually getting better, and he was trying to be sober and take it seriously for the first time in awhile.
Anyways, regardless of how he died, he will be missed. He honestly has one of the strongest discographies of any artist.

Ugh, there's nothing suspicious about the circumstances unless you shoehorn and force false-readings into normal situations. How is it hard to come to terms with the fact that a depressed (and paranoid etc. etc.) guy, with multiple suicide attempts, killed himself?

Not saying he did or didn’t do it but stabbing yourself is not a normal situation

In recording everything means nothing to me he apparently cut the words 'now' into his arm and played the piano, blood dripping on the keys.
Stabbing yourself to kill yourself is a lot more fucking normal than being murdered.

I guess I just wish he died with peace in his heart instead of despair. I just like to think that he was recovering. Never said it true.

the alternative to that is accusing an innocent party of murder

His girlfriend was so shady though. Some of the stories don't line up as well as you'd think. Also, she was super adamant about receiving money from his music after he died. Kinda messed up.

You can believe what you want though. It'll probably never be resolved.

I think girlfriend wanting money is slightly different to girlfriend stabbing boyfriend
