Well the band's entire discography is on my list to check out, but I'm probably gonna go with this first. It doesn't seem that inaccessible to me, especially since I like the vocalist.

Then go for it. He seems to be the hate it/love it breaking point for dredg. I for one love his voice.

Yep, downloading the discography now.
Is Same Ol' Road one of the best on here? Cause I really liked that one.

Of the Room and The Canyon Behind Her are my favorites, but tbh I haven't listened to this is a while.

Sure it does, Brian Molko has a distinctive voice that he puts alot of emotion into.
that's exactly how i'd describe the vocalist of dredg too...

I had a chance to go see them play Leitmotif in its entirety, but I couldn't go...

That wouldve been cool but i would be disappointed if i left a dredg concert without hearing anything off their other albums.

Really? Nothing about the lead singers voice strikes me as passionate, he sounds exactly like 90,000 other indie singers do.
I could forgive this album's pretentiousness if it wasn't just so boring for the most part.

Singer ain't bad, his vocal melodies are just so forced and bland for the most part and it doesn't really fit the music - especially during the verses. It kinda seems like he struggles to get to the chorus on each song.

Their listlessness, every song just seems to meander along with no real rhyme or reason, vaguely touching on different concepts without ever really producing music grand enough to match the pretentiousness of the concept. Everything on here just comes across as painfully average in every way for the most part. I've listened to this album 3 or 4 times fully through now and if you asked me to hum a single song from the album, I couldn't. That's how it's boring.

I didn't decide I actually liked this until 5-6 complete listens....Your point is valid but this will click if you let it

@xfearbefore Give it a few more listens. Break down the album, listen to just one instrument at a time, that's how I usually take on albums I find kind of boring; then just piece it all together and BAM! Masterpiece.

On another note, I might rate this higher.

Alright I trust my fellow Sputnikers enough to give this a few more listens, but as for now this album really hasn't "clicked" with me at all so I wouldn't feel right about rating it any higher than average presently. But shit, there are plenty of albums that took me along time to appreciate, who knows, maybe I'll love this in a year. I'll give it a few more listens, but as for right now you can color me unimpressed.

i think this is more of a 3.5. i just used to use song titles by these guys all the time back when i had to find vocab words for school so it's a very deep intense connection.
