I don't know, I think Redeemer sounds as if the band didn't know what to do, sometimes they want to be rock n'roll-y, other times chaotic, and the melodic parts don't have much of an impact (IMO). Where Anti Mother sounds -just a bit- more focused in terms of songwriting, despite its more experimental nature.
Redeemer also suffers from being the follow up to O' God, which is generally considered one of their best. Actually, I just listened to both and there's a very notable drop in quality from one album to the other. O'God's production is miles better, too.

I like all of those aspects about this record. Those are also the same defining traits of Wrongdoers (and Meridional, I suppose) but they are perfectly executed on Wrongdoers. Anti-Mother just sounds completely watered down like an attempt at selling out and gaining fans.
O'God and Redeemer are pretty close in quality for me, though I prefer this record more. I also really dislike the production on O'God but think that the production here is far too clean.

That is true, but on both Meridional and Wrongdoers the heavy parts hit much harder than anywhere here, except very few moments like the end of "The End Of All Things...". The cleans sound pretty much on point on those records as well, "catchier" methinks.
Overall, I find the execution very sloppy in here. Could be a production thing, too, but I find this record their weakest because it sounds like it never wants to be as heavy as O'God, or as melodic as they went on both Anti Mother and Meridional.

"it sounds like it never wants to be as heavy as O'God, or as melodic as they went on both Anti Mother and Meridional."
I can agree with that. I think they were just trying to find their own sound as best they could. The first two are just relentlessly heavy, this one attempts to inject some melodicism into the mix, Anti-Mother is full on melodic (to my ears), Meridional tries to combine the heavy with the melodic to varying degrees of success and then Wrongdoers perfected the balance. I'm excited to see where they take their sound next.
