Yeah this is just incredibly mid rather than outright toilet

That's honestly what I expected, I cannot believe this is even remotely 4 territory but I haven't listened (yet)

I mean, it is good, but it can't touch the first four albums.

After a good couple of days away from it - Hush is even better than I remember. This genuinely might be a top 5 Muse song

Nightshift Superstar instantly one of their best songs of the last 20 years

I've been relistening to the full album today - I like Nightshift Superstar less on this listen, there's something weird about the pacing that makes any bridge or verse between the chorus feel incredibly lacking. Chorus is a banger though

YES

I just heard Hush. I think muse fans have been so abused over the years that they cant recognize what good sounds like anymore. It sounded like Imagine dragons.

We don't speak of that band. No one should ever need to know about that band.

opening track is great

this was perfectly okay and absolutely nothing special at all. high praise for a post 2006 muse album tho

in the context of their discog this is still sounding good, the difference between me and (most of) you is that their peak doesn't hold up as well I remember so far - OoS especially. Absolution is clear tho. I will check BH&R next week. Curiosity may lead me to revisit Showbiz or (maybe) Drones perhaps, but dunno if I wanna do that - guess I can't lose anything by re-checking the latter.

"muse fans"
yeah and we dont ever listen to other bands ever so we dont have any context for other music
get real lol

that was actually true of me once upon a time lol
the additional 'context' was nice but unhelpful in my assessment of this band

Matt has always been a terrible lyricist but I'm gonna give him a (backhanded) complement for that Cryogen chorus, cos it's in 'laugh out loud / so bad it become good' territory - nicely done lol

Absolution is lyrically great when you just want some apocalyptic music
Otherwise yeah he's a trash lyricist, and it says a lot about his other musical skill sets that he's able to overcome it

This is the same eloquent wordsmith who recently fashioned "ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah, we are fucking fucked", after all.

For once I actually believe the remaster of OoS surpasses the original, so perhaps that might help give you a semi-hard there Demon

Does anyone interpret Love revealed our failed rebellion / Our resistance is mass-produced in "Hexagons" to be a dig at one of the band's own albums?
