someone cleverer / in deeper here explain to me why I have “A Season In The Sky” in my head after listening to this a couple of times earlier
hmm, I can’t pinpoint where (yet) but something here must be reminiscent

When I listened to this (already going for a second time) I kept thinking about Given to the Rising, specially "Water is not Enough" or "To the Wind", because it has that groovy heaviness in combination with their more atmospheric side.

It's got a pretty distinct identity in Neurosis' discog imo honestly. Can really feel the Turner influence here and that is not a bad thing, matter of fact it rules ahrd

Yeah it's got bits of other neurosis albums but definitely feels like it's own thing esp compared to the last two albums

3 times through now, Seething and Scattered being my favorite so far. Pretty sure I’ll be listening to Neurosis practically nonstop over the next month.

Yeah I thought maybe there might be too much Aaron influence You know? Like making it not sound like neurosis. But couldn’t be further from the truth.
I say ‘I thought’ but man you didn’t have time to think yesterday . I’ll never forget for the rest of my life opening instagram seeing a Neurosis post . Some electronics. Roader and thinking ‘surely not’ then ‘we’ve added Aaron turner’ then ‘our albums out today’ I’m glad they didn’t just release a single and put the album out in a month the whole thing just made yesterday so mental. What a day

THIS!!!!

yeah, it still sounds like a Neurosis album despite Turner’s influence imo. It definitely helped in creating something distinct within their discog tho so agreed there. Cool.

Aaron is the man. Easily the best replacement they could've gotten.

Honestly I would've been cool with them carrying on as a four piece, SVT is a great vocalist in his own right, but adding Aaron definitely gives this album that little extra boost that makes it a 5 for me.
Well that and the superb synths. Landis really is one of the greatest metal synth players imo

Awesome review dawg!!! Always respected/dug Neurosis but never dove into them super deep, maybe 3 or 4 albums. Plan to check this soon
